From a temple trust
to a living school
A quiet story of how a small non-profit body in Kunjathur grew into a learning community rooted in freedom, truth, and service to others.
Where the School Began
The school falls under the umbrella of the Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple Education Trust, a non-profit body affiliated with the temple of the same name. It occupies a calm, tranquil location on the temple grounds in Kunjathur village, roughly 3 kilometres from the town centre.
The institution holds affiliation with NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), New Delhi, granted under the Right to Education Act of 2009 (Reference No. F-27/1-6/2023/NIOS/SSS/OBE/Accr/EOBE/1142, dated 25.10.2024 with renewal accreditation confirmed in an official order dated 25 October 2024 (Accreditation No. OB0918317).
The school's approach centres on giving children room to grow freely, an idea reinforced by introducing them to meditation early in life. While the curriculum follows NCERT guidelines, equal weight is placed on daily meditation practice, physical activity, and creative pursuits — all anchored in the principle of "living in truth."
A Journey of Purpose, Growth & Community Service
Guided by the spiritual guardianship of the Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple Education Trust, the institution was founded not as a commercial venture, but as a dedicated community mission. In its formative years, the core goal was simple yet profound: to make high-quality, value-based schooling accessible to every child across Kunjathur and surrounding villages.
Through its active affiliation with Bharatheeya Vidyanikethana (School No. 1447) and national accreditation under NIOS, the school established an integrated curriculum where ancient Bharatiya samskaras, daily meditation, and moral instruction (Naithik) thrive alongside rigorous modern sciences, mathematics, and languages.
Over the years, the institution has continually expanded its facilities—adding modern classrooms, audio-visual smart learning, extensive sports grounds, and a reliable school bus fleet ensuring safe transport from remote rural neighbourhoods, while upholding a firm 100% inclusive admissions policy.
What began as a humble initiative on temple grounds has grown into a flourishing home of learning, character, and hope for generations of children.
